In the middle of the 18th century, Munchausen lived several years in the Duntes Manor House after his marriage with Jacobine von Dunten on February 2, 1744.
The museum is arranged in the renewed Master’s House of the Duntes Manor. It is a dream museum in which happiness and wit dwell. The permanent historic exhibition “Munchausen’s World” tells about the baron as a page of the prince Anton Ulrich in Ukrainian steppes and Russian court, a military officer, loving husband and enthusiastic story-teller – a person keenly enjoying life, preserving the ability to laugh at himself and others, see the world that is different. The baron Munchausen will await you with his game – a string of ducks hunted with a single shot.
In the boudoir of the Munchausen’s wife Jacobine, you will see a real corner of paradise for ladies of the 18th century.
On the second floor of the museum, the widest collection of wax figures in Latvia “PROMINENT PERSONS IN HISTORY OF LATVIA” is exhibited. Beer fans will enjoy the collection of BEER JUGS consisting of 2100 beer jugs from 58 countries of the world.
One can have a picture taken at a special panel in the Manor yard under 3 large MUNCHAUSEN’S OAK TREES.
